When to go
December–April is peak: dry, breezy, and priciest. Crop Over festival (Jun–Aug) is the cultural high point and books out early. September–October is quietest — and the wettest stretch of hurricane season.
Money & getting around
Barbados uses the Bajan dollar (BBD), pegged 2:1 to the US dollar — USD is accepted nearly everywhere (change comes in BBD). Cards work widely. Tipping ~10–15% unless service is already added. Blue route taxis ('ZR' vans) are the cheap local adventure; regular taxis fix fares up front.

Camouflage clothing is against the law in Barbados, and it hides in swim shorts, caps and kids' gear. Pull it from the pile before the bag is packed.

Late October is the quietest stretch of hurricane season and the wettest, so build in a rain day and check what your booking and any insurance actually cover for storms.
