Belize uses the Belize dollar (BZD), pegged 2:1 to the US dollar — USD is accepted everywhere (confirm which dollar a price means; on the cayes it's often USD). Late October sits in the tail of Belize's storm season, which peaks August through October. Check what your airline and hotel allow if a storm moves in, and decide now whether you want insurance.

The reef, the cave rivers and the cayes mean most of your week is wet, and your packing list is still twelve items of dry-land basics. Add a dry bag, quick-dry clothes, shoes you can soak, and sun protection.
