When to go
The dry season (Dec–Apr) is peak — best diving visibility and busiest cayes; Easter week is the local high tide. The green season (Jun–Nov) is lush and cheaper, with hurricane season peaking Aug–Oct.
Money & getting around
Belize uses the Belize dollar (BZD), pegged 2:1 to the US dollar — USD is accepted everywhere (confirm which dollar a price means; on the cayes it's often USD). English is the official language, a Caribbean rarity on the mainland. Cards work at hotels; carry cash for water taxis and street food. Tipping ~10–15%.

Belize dollars are pegged at two to the US dollar and both are accepted everywhere. Ask which one a price is in.
Water taxis run on a timetable
Belize City to Caye Caulker and San Pedro several times a day; they stop by late afternoon. Miss the last one and you stay the night.
Golf carts are the cars
On the cayes there are no real roads. Rent a cart, drive on the right, and give way to the bicycles.
Tipping is ten to fifteen
Often added in resorts; check the bill. Dive and tour guides are tipped at the end of the trip.
The reef has rules
No touching, no standing on coral, no sunscreen that is not reef-safe at the marine reserves. Guides check.

Late October sits in the tail of Belize's storm season, which peaks August through October. Check what your airline and hotel allow if a storm moves in, and decide now whether you want insurance.

Water-first packing
The reef, the cave rivers and the cayes mean most of your week is wet, and your packing list is still twelve items of dry-land basics. Add a dry bag, quick-dry clothes, shoes you can soak, and sun protection.

Small bills and dollar clarity
Water taxis and street food run on cash, and a quoted price can mean Belize dollars or US dollars at a 2:1 difference. Carry small USD notes and ask which dollar before you hand anything over.
