When to go
The islands are good year-round; the driest window is roughly February–June (whale sharks pass Utila in spring). October–November is the wettest. Semana Santa (Easter week) is the big domestic rush everywhere.
Money & getting around
Honduras uses the lempira (HNL); the Bay Islands price much of tourism in US dollars and take cards, while mainland travel runs on cash. Tipping ~10% where service isn't added. On the mainland, stick to established shuttles and registered taxis — and read the Safety card for current guidance.

Rain that means it
October and November are the wettest stretch in Honduras, and you have seven nights of it. Pack a light rain shell and something that dries overnight rather than a sweater that stays damp all week.

The Bay Islands are one of the cheapest world-class dive spots anywhere, and shops will want to see your card and logbook. Find them now, five weeks out, not the night before — and add reef-safe sun protection while you're at it.

A dollars-and-lempira plan
Roatan prices much of its tourism in US dollars and takes cards, but the mainland runs on cash in lempira and tipping is around 10% where it isn't added. Carry small bills and decide before you land which side of that you'll be on.
