Jamaica is beaches, mountains, and reggae rhythm. Pack light, breathable clothes, reef-safe sun protection, and a relaxed pace — 'soon come' is a way of life.

When to go
The dry season (Dec–Apr) is peak — sunniest, busiest, priciest; hurricane season runs Jun–Nov (wetter, cheaper). Reggae Sumfest (July) draws crowds.
Money & getting around
Jamaica uses the Jamaican dollar (JMD), but US dollars are widely accepted at resorts and tourist spots. Carry small bills for tips and vendors; cards work at hotels. Tipping ~10–15% (check if a service charge is already added).

It means eventually — the bus, the food, the plumber. Schedules bend; vibes don't. Plan margin and match the pace.
Greet people properly
'Good morning' before questions, 'respect' and 'blessings' in daily use. Skipping greetings is the fastest way to worse service on the island.
The ganja law has fine print
Small amounts are decriminalized (petty fine), not legal — buying from beach dealers is still illegal and a hassle-magnet. Licensed dispensaries exist for the curious.
Craft markets expect haggling
Friendly back-and-forth is part of the purchase; hostility isn't. Settle around two-thirds with mutual grins.

The C5 form, done online
Jamaica's entry guide says the C5 Immigration/Customs form should be completed online via Enter Jamaica before you land, with the confirmation kept on your phone. Do it once your hotel or host address is settled, since the form asks for it.

Late October is hurricane season
Your dates sit inside Jamaica's June–November wet season, which means rain, and occasionally more than rain. Pack a light rain layer alongside the breathable clothes, and check what your flight and accommodation allow if weather forces a change.

Paperwork for your prescriptions
The entry guide is explicit that Jamaican customs asks for documentation on prescription medicines. Check what you're carrying and pack the labels or a copy of the prescription in your hand luggage, not the checked bag.
