When to go

Tanzania uses the shilling (TZS), though US dollars are widely accepted for parks, lodges, and tours (bring newer bills). Carry cash for markets and tips; cards work at bigger lodges. Park fees are steep — budget for them. Tipping safari and trek crews is expected.
